Why ranking different with targeted kewords in different Search Engines.

Google prefer: content links, related websites, simple url with keywords inside ( …/news/my-website-rocks.html ), unique content, links from authority sites, HTML sites rank better, content updates,
Google hates: link farms, copying content, the same content on many pages, keyword spam ( building many links with the same anchor), similarity in link portfolio (often when you join group of webmasters to build / exchange) links.
Google doesn’t care: site got sitewide link (still count like 1), site contain non related domain (monster - jobs, magnolia - social site, Facebook - student portal).
Yahoo loves: old domain, domain related to content, submission in Yahoo directory, Meta tags, content related domain ( Hotjobs - jobs, Hotels - travel site, Business - business directory ), links from old sites. Yahoo very conservative and if you take closer look, you will find that Yahoo rank old dinosaur sites way better. It takes years for new sites to rank well even if they got hundred thousands backlinks.
Yahoo hates: when your domain non related to content, large spammy metatags, small metatags, content way low on the bottom of the page, links from non related sites, links only from newest sites and directories.
Yahoo doesn’t care: Pagerank ( they have their own system they hide), reciprocal linking.
MSN loves: sitewide links, non reciprocal links, homepage links, website updates, content changes, appearance of new pages, well organized meta tags, PHP sites as well as HTML, human approval of a website.
MSN hates: reciprocal links, links from directories, webmasters who doesn’t update their sites a lot.
MSN doesn’t care about pagerank!
